Technical Machine Operator.

Job Description

1. JOB PURPOSE

The Technical Machine Operator is responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining fertilizer blending and production machinery to ensure efficient, safe, and reliable production operations. The position involves ensuring optimal machine availability, achieving production targets, maintaining product quality, minimizing equipment downtime and material waste, and complying with all health, safety, and environmental regulations.

2. KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

A. Machine Operation and Production

•  Operate fertilizer blending machines and related production equipment in accordance with established operating procedures.
• Monitor machine performance to ensure optimal production output and operational efficiency.
•  Ensure machinery operates at the required capacity and meets daily production targets.
• Conduct routine inspections before, during, and after machine operation.
•  Identify and report machine abnormalities, breakdowns, and operational issues promptly.
• Minimize equipment downtime caused by operator errors through proper machine handling.

B. Routine Maintenance and Technical Skills

•  Perform routine and preventive maintenance on production machinery as scheduled.
•  Conduct basic troubleshooting and first-line repairs of minor machine faults.
•  Ensure timely completion of preventive maintenance activities.
•  Inspect utility equipment and verify that all systems are functioning properly.
•  Maintain machinery in good working condition to ensure reliability and longevity.
•  Coordinate with the maintenance team for major repairs and technical interventions.

C. Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE)

•  Comply with all company health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
•  Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times during machine operation.
•  Ensure safe handling and operation of machinery and fertilizer materials.
•  Identify and report safety hazards, near misses, and unsafe working conditions.
•  Participate in safety toolbox talks, drills, and training sessions.
•  Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment.

D. Efficiency and Quality Control

•  Ensure accurate blending and production of fertilizer according to approved specifications.
•  Monitor production processes to maintain product quality and accuracy.
•  Minimize material waste and ensure efficient utilization of raw materials.
•  Verify machine settings and production parameters before starting operations.
•  Report quality deviations and take corrective action within assigned responsibilities.
• Ensure production output meets established quality standards.
•  Respond promptly to instructions from the line manager and maintenance supervisor.

4. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Relevant experience in machine operation, manufacturing, fertilizer production, or industrial processing is an added advantage.
• Knowledge of industrial machinery, equipment maintenance, and basic troubleshooting.
• Understanding of occupational health, safety, and environmental standards.
