Job Summary
The General Nurse will provide professional nursing care to patients, ensuring proper assessment, treatment support, and monitoring in accordance with clinical standards and healthcare protocols. The role focuses on patient care, medication administration, documentation, and collaboration with multidisciplinary healthcare teams. This position is ideal for a compassionate and qualified nurse committed to delivering high-quality patient care.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Interview patients and conduct thorough physical examinations to guide diagnosis.
- Record laboratory requests and findings in patient files and registers.
- Prescribe treatments with careful attention to dosage and potential side effects.
- Determine cases requiring referral to a Medical Doctor.
- Ensure consultations start and end according to schedule.
- Maintain medical materials and equipment.
- Coordinate with other health staff to assess clinical skills and address challenges.
- Register patients and maintain accurate records according to health center protocols.
- Follow up on consulted and hospitalized patients.
- Ensure confidentiality and proper management of patient data files.
- Provide patients with clear information regarding their conditions, medications, and health education.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Educational Qualifications, Experience, & Skills Required
- Minimum A2 Diploma in Nursing from a recognized institution.
- Full registration and valid practicing license from the Rwanda Medical Council.
- 2–3 years of clinical nursing experience, preferably in low-resource and fast-paced environments serving vulnerable populations.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills, including experience with health data management.
- Knowledge of Health Information Systems, nutrition protocols, HIV management, Primary Health Care, Reproductive Health Care, and Rwanda Ministry of Health guidelines.
- Experience in patient data collection for health systems monitoring.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Fluency in Kinyarwanda and English or French.
