Role Overview

The Regional Manager will lead and manage BRAC operations in the Nyanza District, overseeing program delivery, staff development, financial management, and stakeholder engagement. This role ensures high-quality implementation of multi-sectoral, youth-focused programs while maintaining BRAC’s standards, values, and safeguarding policies.

Key Responsibilities

1. Program Management

  • Oversee quality delivery of field programs and core business processes.
  • Ensure program compliance with BRAC and project SOPs.
  • Monitor Budget Variance Analysis (BVA) monthly and ensure timely, cost-effective implementation of grant activities.
  • Organize and facilitate regular team meetings to track progress and resolve issues.
  • Ensure timely and high-quality reporting to donors and stakeholders.
  • Promote community participation in program design, monitoring, and evaluation.

2. People Management

  • Work with HR to ensure policies are understood and followed.
  • Lead performance management processes and build staff capacity through training, coaching, and mentoring.
  • Create a motivating work environment that encourages teamwork, learning, and accountability.

3. Financial and Grant Oversight

  • Serve as the area’s overall budget holder, ensuring rigorous financial monitoring.
  • Enforce adherence to BRAC and donor financial guidelines.
  • Monitor project expenditures and align with forecasts and grant requirements.
  • Support budget planning and ensure grant compliance throughout the project cycle.

4. Partnerships and Representation

  • Build strategic partnerships with local government, NGOs, and donors.
  • Represent BRAC in field-level coordination meetings (e.g., UN clusters, NGO forums).
  • Ensure local civil society organizations are supported and engaged meaningfully.
  • Promote understanding and adherence to BRAC policies among partners.

5. Safeguarding

  • Uphold and promote BRAC’s safeguarding policies to ensure the safety and well-being of all staff and program participants.
  • Act as a point of contact for safeguarding issues and support reporting procedures.

Qualifications and Experience

Education:

  • Bachelor’s or Postgraduate degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Rural Development, Community Development, Education, Agriculture, Economics, or a related field.

Experience:

  • Minimum 7 years of management experience in an international NGO setting.
  • Strong background in field operations, financial management, and grant oversight.
  • Experience managing cross-functional teams in complex, multicultural environments.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Solid understanding of development and humanitarian sectors.
  • Proven project and budget management skills.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal abilities.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to analyze information and make data-informed decisions.
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken).
