About the Role
We are seeking a mission-driven professional to lead the design, testing, and scale-up of microinsurance products tailored for smallholder farmers in Rwanda. You will play a pivotal role in delivering inclusive insurance solutions—from hospital cash coverage to funeral and asset protection products—that directly improve the financial resilience of rural households.
This is a unique opportunity to combine strategic thinking, fieldwork, and cross-sector collaboration to build impactful solutions. You will report to the Global Microinsurance Lead and work closely with internal teams and external partners.
Key Responsibilities
Product Development
- Design, test, and refine microinsurance products tailored to rural farmers
- Conduct market research and translate pilot findings into scalable strategies
- Manage budgets and expenditures for product rollouts
Project Management, Operations, and Distribution
- Set performance metrics and monitor field implementation
- Conduct field visits to oversee pilot programs
- Collaborate with partners to develop and optimize distribution systems
Impact Measurement and Reporting
- Analyze pilot results and generate actionable insights
- Design performance-tracking systems and integrate historical data
- Inform ongoing product development and strategic planning
Innovation and Strategy
- Identify new microinsurance product opportunities
- Contribute to country-level strategy alignment and innovation
- Ensure product development aligns with Rwanda program goals
Team Management
- Lead regular check-ins and support work prioritization
- Mentor and support the professional development of junior team members

Qualifications
We are looking for candidates who meet the following criteria:
- 3+ years of experience in microinsurance, insurance, or a related field
- Strong knowledge of the Rwandan microinsurance market and regulatory environment
- Proficiency in Excel (must be able to perform complex functions)
- Experience using Stata or R for data analysis
- Strong project management skills and ability to meet deadlines
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and manage partnerships
- Fluent in English; French and Kinyarwanda are desirable
