About the Role

We are looking for a highly analytical and experienced Research & Evaluation professional to join our Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) team in Kigali, Rwanda.

As Senior Impact and Research Associate, you will focus on evaluating and improving our tree and farmer training programs, while strengthening MEL operations and coordinating data-driven decision-making across teams and programs. You will report to the Rwanda MEL Lead, manage one deputy, and support a field team of 30+ staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define research objectives and develop survey tools for impact assessments and strategic questions.
  • Oversee data collection (quantitative and qualitative) from 30+ field agents and ensure data quality.
  • Analyze and triangulate data to generate actionable insights and share findings with national and global teams for learning and accountability.
  • Write clear reports on project progress, highlighting lessons learned and recommending improvements for implementation.
  • Contribute to the development of annual work plans, country goals, and MEL strategy in alignment with One Acre Fund’s broader mission.

Qualifications

We are seeking candidates with a strong background in research, data analysis, and evaluation. You’ll be a great fit if you meet the following requirements:

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in research design, data analysis, MEL implementation, and team coordination.
  • Proficiency in quantitative and qualitative research, including statistical evaluation techniques like regressions, propensity score matching, and difference-in-differences design.
  • Experience using tools such as Stata, R, and advanced Excel for data analysis.
  • Ability to manage large data sets and maintain complex spreadsheets.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Agronomy, Research Methods, or a related field.
  • Excellent communication in English; fluency in Kinyarwanda is a plus.
