About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Tax Specialist to join our Finance Division. In this role, you will collaborate with the wider finance and country teams to ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations. You will report directly to the Global Finance Senior Manager and manage a team of tax specialists.
Key Responsibilities
Tax Advisory
- Monitor changes in tax laws and provide timely guidance to relevant teams.
- Support implementation of tax-related changes to maintain compliance.
- Advise leadership on the tax implications of business decisions.
- Provide expert guidance on transfer pricing and strategic tax planning.
- Deliver training sessions on tax-related topics to finance and program teams.
- Recommend tax strategies that align with organizational goals.
Tax Compliance
- Oversee preparation and submission of all tax returns.
- Ensure timely completion of tax reconciliations and resolution of any issues.
- Maintain accurate records for tax filings and regulatory compliance.
- Respond to tax authority correspondence and resolve related queries.
Audit & Support
- Coordinate tax audits and support financial audits as needed.
- Track audit findings and ensure timely resolution with process owners.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly accounting reconciliations as assigned.
Qualifications
We’re seeking candidates with the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- At least 4 years of experience in tax and regulatory compliance.
- Minimum 3 years of corporate tax experience in Africa (East Africa preferred).
- CPA, ACCA, or equivalent professional qualification (completed or near completion).
- Strong understanding of tax codes, audit procedures, and compliance standards.
- Proven ability to lead tax operations and implement process improvements.
