1.    Background

The Rural Development Initiative (RDI) is a youth and agriculture development NGO committed to transforming rural livelihoods across Rwanda by empowering smallholder farmers, youth, women, and vulnerable households through sustainable agriculture, entrepreneurship, and climate-resilient farming practices.

Under the Action for Kungahara / PROFARM Project, implemented in partnership with the European Cooperative for Rural Development (EUCORD) and supported by the European Union through the KUNGAHARA Programme, RDI is promoting integrated farming systems to strengthen agricultural productivity, improve household incomes, and enhance nutrition security among smallholder farmers in Burera and Gicumbi Districts.

The project, titled “Promoting an Integrated Farming System around Sunflower, Maize and Vegetables to Stimulate Resilient Agriculture and Nutrition Security for Smallholder Farmers in Rwanda,” focuses on supporting farmers to adopt improved agricultural practices, diversify crop production, and strengthen the resilience of their farming systems.

To support the implementation of these activities, RDI intends to procure quality maize seeds, vegetable seeds, and fertilizers to distribute to targeted farmer beneficiaries. These agricultural inputs will contribute to improved crop production, increased food availability, diversified household diets, and enhanced livelihoods among participating smallholder farmers.
