Job Summary

The Business Manager – Tanzania will serve as the country lead responsible for driving business growth, building strategic partnerships, overseeing day-to-day operations, and ensuring the company achieves its commercial objectives in the Tanzanian market. The role requires a blend of entrepreneurial drive, deep knowledge of the local market, and the ability to execute high-level strategy on the ground.

Our platform combines mobile gaming, esports, betting, and digital lifestyle content tailored for African consumers. As we expand our footprint into Tanzania, we are seeking a dynamic and commercially driven Business Manager to lead our Tanzania market entry and growth strategy.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

1. Business Development & Revenue Growth

  • Develop and execute the Tanzania market business plan aligned with overall company strategy
  • Identify, pursue, and close commercial partnerships with telecom operators, retailers, media houses, and key distribution channels
  • Drive user acquisition, customer retention, and revenue generation across all product lines
  • Develop pricing strategies suited to the Tanzanian market and competitive landscape
  • Lead negotiations and manage commercial agreements with local partners and vendors

2. Operations & Market Management

  • Oversee all day-to-day business operations in Tanzania including finance, compliance, and administration
  • Build, recruit, and manage a high-performing local team across sales, marketing, and operations functions
  • Ensure compliance with Tanzanian gaming regulations, tax laws, and licensing requirements
  • Liaise with regulatory authorities including the Gaming Board of Tanzania (GBT) and Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA)
  • Monitor market trends, competitive activity, and consumer behaviour to inform business decisions

3. Marketing & Brand Positioning

  • Champion the company’s brand in Tanzania through targeted marketing campaigns and community engagement
  • Develop and oversee local digital, social media, and on-ground marketing activations
  • Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and public forums
  • Manage public relations and media engagement in the Tanzanian market

4. Financial & Performance Management

  • Develop and manage the Tanzania business unit budget with accountability for P&L performance
  • Prepare regular business performance reports, forecasts, and dashboards for Group leadership
  • Identify cost optimisation opportunities without compromising quality or growth
  • Track KPIs and OKRs; present insights and recommendations to the executive team

5. Stakeholder & Government Relations

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with government officials, regulatory bodies, and industry associations
  • Advocate for the company’s interests in policy and regulatory discussions
  • Manage relationships with investors, board members, and Group leadership on Tanzania-specific matters

Educational Qualifications, Experience, & Skills Required

  • Required
    • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Economics, or a related field
    • Minimum 5 years of progressive business management or commercial leadership experience
    • Proven track record in the gaming, fintech, digital media, or technology sectors in East Africa
    • Demonstrated experience in market entry, business development, or P&L management
    • Strong understanding of the Tanzanian regulatory environment, particularly gaming/betting laws
    • Excellent command of Kiswahili and English (written and spoken)
  • Preferred
    • Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) or equivalent
    • Experience working in mobile money, digital entertainment, or esports ecosystems
    • Existing networks with telecom operators (Vodacom, Airtel, TTCL) and key Tanzanian business stakeholders
    • Familiarity with Pan-African or multi-country business operations
