About Shouting Touch
Shooting Touch is an international sport-for-development organization operating in Boston and
Rwanda, with a mission to use the power of basketball to connect youth and women to healthier
futures. Since launching Shooting Touch Rwanda (STR) in 2012, the organization has expanded
its reach in Rwanda’s Eastern Province, providing access to basketball, public health education,
and gender equality initiatives to thousands across six sectors in the Bugesera and Kayonza
Districts.
About The Consultancy
Shooting Touch is seeking a qualified and motivated Technical Consultant to review, update, and
strengthen its health curriculum. The consultant will work closely with Shooting Touch staff to
ensure that all curriculum materials are accurate, culturally relevant, and aligned with national
and international health standards. This role requires strong technical expertise in public health, experience in curriculum development, and fluency in both English and Kinyarwanda.

Title: Technical Consultant – Health Curriculum Review & Development
Start Date: August 2026
Location: Remote, with weekly in-person meetings with the Shooting Touch team
Employment Type: Part-time
Duration: 3 months
Key Responsibilities
The consultant will deliver this assignment over a 3-month period, structured in three phases.
Month 1: Curriculum Review and Gap Analysis
- Review and assess all existing Shooting Touch health curriculum units: WASH, Hydration, Malaria, Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs), Adolescence & Reproductive Health (Parts I & II), HIV, and Sense of Self
- Assess curriculum content for accuracy, structure, and alignment with national and international health standards
- Review existing English and Kinyarwanda versions to identify inconsistencies or gaps in translation
- Identify outdated content, gaps, and opportunities for improvement
- Evaluate accessibility and comprehension of materials for individuals with varying educational backgrounds
- Submit a gap analysis with key findings and recommended priority actions
Month 2: Curriculum Revision and Parallel Translation Review
- Update and align curriculum content with national and international health standards
- Revise and strengthen existing curriculum materials based on identified gaps
- Adapt curriculum language for better comprehension by individuals with diverse educational backgrounds
- Contextualize curriculum content to align with Rwandan cultural norms and practices
- Translate revised content requiring minor or moderate adjustments between English and Kinyarwanda in parallel with revisions
- Review and improve translations to ensure clarity, consistency, and technical accuracy
- Incorporate feedback from Shooting Touch staff through iterative drafts
- Submit a revised curriculum draft (English and Kinyarwanda versions).
Month 3: New Content Development, Translation & Finalization
- Develop new curriculum content to address identified gaps and strengthen overall curriculum completeness
- Finalize all revised curriculum content based on feedback
- Translate all newly developed and remaining revised content between English and Kinyarwanda
- Review and harmonize all translations to ensure consistency across all units
- Adapt final materials to ensure accessibility and cultural relevance
- Design or support the development of visually engaging, user-friendly materials (e.g., facilitator guides, handbooks, visuals)
- Deliver a comprehensive, high-quality curriculum (in english) package that is technically sound, culturally contextualized, user-friendly, and ready for immediate implementation
Ongoing Throughout the Consultancy
- Participate in weekly meetings with the Shooting Touch team to provide updates on progress
- Engage with Shooting Touch beneficiaries, as needed, to ensure contextual relevance and usability
Qualifications
- Proficiency in both English and Kinyarwanda (written and spoken).
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Medicine, Nursing, Community Health, Global Health, or another relevant health-related field. A master’s degree is preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience in public health, community health, health education, or curriculum design and review.
- Demonstrated experience conducting public health research, curriculum evaluation, or evidence synthesis to inform health education materials.
- Demonstrated experience designing, reviewing, or delivering community-based health education curricula or training materials.
- Experience working with community-based health programmes in Rwanda, particularly those serving women, adolescents, and young people (preferred).
- Strong understanding of Rwanda’s health system, Ministry of Health guidelines, and national public health priorities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and document design or formatting software.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and complying with all Shooting Touch policies and procedures.
